"愛在此，樂在此"，是香港旅游發展局為"精彩香港旅游年"設計的口號。說起香港，很多人的心目中會首先想到的是高聳入云的中銀大廈、碧波蕩漾的維多利亞港、光怪陸離的夜中環和歌舞升平的蘭桂坊，還有一些人會想到熙熙攘攘的人群、步伐匆匆的行人、禮貌而又高效的警官和日夜忙碌卻又井然有序的街道。但是對于我而言，香港永遠意味著溫暖和感動、激情和奮斗。太平山下的這座充滿活力的國際化大都市，無疑是我生命中最重要的驛站之一，在我的記憶中留下了永遠不可磨滅的痕跡。在這里，我有幸獲得了一筆金額不菲的獎學金，進入到亞太地區最著名的學府之一繼續深造，衣食無憂、心平氣和地研究自己從小就喜歡的課題，在科研和生活的點點滴滴中親身體會六百萬香港人最引以為豪的"香港效率"和"香港品質"。也正是在這里，我終于完成了《劍橋雅思寫作高分范文》以及《劍橋雅思詞匯掌中寶》這幾本雅思輔導書的全部書稿。盡管這幾本書的創作過程似乎遠遠沒有達到"香港效率"，但是我自信，這兩套書的質量絕對可以和"香港品質"媲美。
這兩套書的歷史要追溯到上個世紀末。當時我還在哈爾濱的一所工科院校的英語系讀書。四周濃郁的理工氛圍讓當時躊躇滿志、視學好英語為人生最高目標的我倍感壓抑和絕望，甚至開始懷疑自己選擇英語作為專業是不是一個美麗的錯誤。我喜歡學英語，也擅長學英語， 這是我很小的時候就明白的事實；不該來到這里學英語，或者確切地說，來到這里就不該學英語，也是我不得不接受的事實。書本里，哲人說生活會因為一些突如其來的陰差陽錯而變得幸福；現實中，我的生活卻因為這樣而變得痛苦。不過我很快在絕望中找到了希望。在陰差陽錯地參加了一次當時報名費不低的雅思考試后，憑借著相當不錯的考試成績，我意外地在一家著名的雅思培訓機構中覓得了一個兼職的機會， 在18歲生日的前幾天登上了雅思的講臺，在"暗無天日"的歲月里為自己打開了一扇通往自信和幸福的大門。我的教學從一開始就大獲成功， 學生和校方的反饋都極好， 教授的科目也從最初的雅思閱讀一直擴展到雅思考試的各個板塊。事實證明，我在語言學習和語言使用方面的確是有過人的天賦的。在我人生的那個階段，意識到這一點所帶來的快感，遠勝過手里揣著對于一個大學生而言幾近天文數字的工資所帶來的興奮。于是，我無條件地愛上了教英語，瘋狂地逃掉了大學里所有我覺得沒有意義的課，義無返顧地投入到教學中，沉溺于其中，完全不能自拔。我的大學生活也因此而由原來的圖書館一個據點，變成了"圖書館--講臺"的兩點一線。后來，這間培訓機構有了將教師的教學心得整理成冊正式出版的意向，于是就有了我寫這幾本書的初衷。當年我還滿懷信心地盤算著， 在自己20歲大學畢業的時候， 懷里不僅要捧著畢業證和學位證， 而且還要揣著幾本自己寫的書。
事實證明，我高估了自己的能力，低估了寫書的難度。我自認是個做事相當努力和拼命的人，可惜生性平和，而生性平和的人做事情的效率往往就不會太高；我又很固執，堅決不愿意放棄品質來換取效率。于是乎，這套書一寫就是好幾年。在這個過程當中，我自己的生活發生了巨大的改變。2002年，我從白雪皚皚的冰城哈爾濱飛到了四季如春的花城廣州，在這里開始了我在新東方的工作。新東方的日子，是我過去27年生命中最振奮人心的歲月。每天都全身心地投入、非常忘我地做事，全身的每個細胞都處于高度興奮的工作狀態，感覺非常亢奮，也很是盡興和過癮。常常是白天上10個小時的課，晚上回來還要備課、寫文章，一直干到凌晨三四點。有時候合上筆記本電腦抬頭看看鬧鐘已經是早上六點多了，就干脆再打開電腦繼續寫到七點多，然后沖個熱水澡，直接出門，精神抖擻地上一天的課。后來我順利地通過各輪面試拿到獎學金去香港繼續深造，做的課題是我最感興趣的方向，導師也是公認的這方面的權威，生活就變得更加充實和忙碌。有時甚至是上午在香港的大學課堂里做學生， 晚上又要回到廣州新東方的課堂里做老師，中間還在往來香港九龍和廣州火車東站的KCR九廣直通車上用筆記本電腦打書稿或博士論文。我沒有詳細統計過在這幾本雅思輔導書的全部內容中，有多少是在KCR列車上完成的，但是我相信比例一定不低。這樣的生活， 讓很多關心我的健康的人感覺到不可思議和慘不忍睹。但是，我卻的確在這個過程中獲得了巨大的滿足感和成就感，也的確收獲了很多的成績。在過去的幾年中，我連續三次被新東方評為"集團優秀教師"。雖然因為身在香港，最終未能去北京總部領獎，但是依然很得意于學生的認可； 已經出版的《雅思閱讀高分榜中榜》成績也很喜人，業界的反響亦非常好， 2006年更是被一家臺灣的出版社成功引入海外市場，正式出版了繁體字的海外版；香港的學業也由始至終一直進展很順利。更令人稱奇的是，在這個過程中， 我的健康狀況也達到了歷史最高水平。除了視力不幸下降外， 我的各項健康指標都明顯好過從前。"生命在于做事"， 我常跟新東方的同事自嘲。
雖然這幾本雅思輔導書中有不少內容是在九龍-廣州的KCR列車上完成的，算是車輪上的作品，但是這幾本書卻絕對不是馬虎之作。正式出版之前，我在香港參閱了大量國外出版的英文詞匯、寫作以及雅思備考方面的書籍，自認為和已經出版的數目繁多的雅思方面的書籍相比較，這幾本雅思輔導書的確有不少自身所特有的優勢， 現列舉如下：
1. 對詞匯進行了語用學分析，確保單詞使用的得體性
語用學是語言學的重要分支，主要研究詞的使用方法和語言使用者所期望表達的真正含義。以往，大多數的雅思考生在學習英語的過程中，最關心的是如何用英語正確地交談和寫作，對語言的認識停留在了語法這個層面。跨出國門、真正開始海外生活后，他們當中的很多人卻發現，其實更需要關注的是如何得體地使用英語。外國同學和老師通常都會善意地原諒中國學生的語法錯誤，卻無法接受和容忍一些因語言使用欠妥而引起的尷尬甚至是冒犯。《劍橋雅思寫作高分范文》以及《劍橋雅思詞匯掌中寶》這幾本雅思備考用書中的很多單詞，尤其是詞匯掌中寶系列口語和寫作分冊中的絕大多數單詞， 都特別配置了用法方面的指導， 請考生用心閱讀。

5. 例句簡短精練，適合自學
詞匯書的例句一旦過于復雜，往往就會在彰顯作者不俗的英語實力的同時，妨礙了考生的記憶。例句的功能在于輔助考生記憶單詞。顯然，一個生詞眾多、句式復雜的例句，是不可能幫助考生記憶單詞的。《劍橋雅思詞匯掌中寶》叢書除寫作分冊外，其他分冊的例句均簡短精練， 適合雅思考生自學使用。復習備考的過程中， 考生完全可以直接背誦叢書中的例句。《劍橋雅思寫作高分范文》也特別配備了"詞匯升級"欄目，提供了大量可供替換的同義詞， 方便考生快速積累寫作詞匯。

需要特別向廣大雅思考生說明的是，雖然我對這幾本雅思詞匯書以及寫作書的詞匯部分的品質充滿了信心，它們卻絕對代替不了詞典。不論是單純為了應付雅思考試，還是為了真正提高英語能力，詞典都是必不可少的工具。無論你的英語處于哪個層次，詞典都會是你的良師益友。這幾本雅思詞匯書無法代替詞典，一般的電子詞典更是無法代替詞典。翻閱英文詞典，不僅是很多語言大師和翻譯大師的嗜好，也是英語學習的必由之路。在詞典里認真地查找和閱讀一個詞條，可以獲得很多相關的知識，自然會受益匪淺。日積月累，英語水平就必定會有很大的飛躍。我在本科、 碩士和博士階段的學習，一直都是以英語做為自己的專業。一路學過來，真的感覺其樂無窮。其實，英語和這個世界上的很多事情一樣，只要你用心去學， 用心去領悟，就一定會發現其中所蘊藏的巨大的樂趣， 就會被它吸引，自然也就會愛上它。
